LAMDA EXAMS (for ages 7 +) LAMDA Exams are about achievement and empowerment. They've been helping learners all over the world develop into confident speakers since the 1880s. As qualifications have moved on over the years, LAMDA's principal aim remains the same: to provide all people with the opportunity to improve self-expression, self-assurance and, most importantly, have fun. Over a hundred thousand people take LAMDA Exams every year. Learners come from all over the world, and are from all cultures, backgrounds and abilities.
Groups Exams (non regulated) Timetabled on Tiptoes website Group Acting exams are a great way to get an entire class involved, building camaraderie as they take their exam together. Groups can be made up of between three and 15 learners, all performing together. Scenes are not set, which means that they can be picked to suit the specific needs and numbers of the group. Each member speaks enough dialogue that they are able to fully establish their character in the scene. Teamwork is essential. The group is graded as a whole, receiving one collective result for all their hard work. This is a non-regulated examination. Solo/Duo Exams (regulated) - Private or double lessons available to book on request During LAMDA's acting exam learners develop their vocal, physical and interpretive skills while they delve into characters and explore the background of dramatic texts. Alongside producing authentic performances of their chosen scenes, they also gain an understanding of the context and characters within them. Working through the grades takes learners through the development of clear speaking and character portrayal to an understanding of a playwright’s style, the influence of theatre practitioners such as Stanislavski and a sensitive appreciation of subtext. Learners can either take the exam by themselves (solo) or in a pair (duologue). For Levels One and Two, they can perform one of their scenes by themselves, and the other in a pair (combined).
